On 8 May 2023, the educators of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) participated in the last seminar of the program “Sustainable Solutions for Online and Blended Learning in Education” that was organized within the ACADIGIA program.

In the first part of the session, after participants’ request, the tools Jupyter Notebook and Big Blue Button were presented.

Big Blue Button is an open-source teaching platform that was developed for teachers. It can be integrated with third-party platforms like Moodle and is integrated with the learning platform that NTUA is using Helios. Participants after being informed about BBB’s features, had the chance to make practice through their accounts on Helios.

Jyputer Notebook is an open-source web-based computing platform. It is a tool for interactively developing and presenting data for scientific projects. Many different programming languages are supported by Jupyter but Python is more frequently used. Jupyter notebook also supports mixing executable code, equations, visualizations, and narrative text.

In the second part of this last seminar, educators presented tools that are used in their lectures and hadn’t been presented during the ACADIGIA sessions. Some of these tools are the Miro, the Lucidchart and the iSpring. Participants also exchanged knowledge, experiences, good practices and useful digital resources for educational and non-educational content.

In the end, there was an informal evaluation of the seminar. Participants generally noted that it was useful and motivated them to update their teaching approach and modernize their course content. They also acquired useful knowledge, became familiar with tools they knew but couldn’t use, improved their digital skills, and most importantly became part of a group that will support them whenever they need.
